Eddie Officially Enshrined In the Country Music Hall Of Fame

Eddie Bayers, widely recognized as intrinsically responsible for the rhythmic moments that spawned two consecutive generations of country music’s pop-crossover eras, was officially inducted into the Country Music Hall Of Fame on Sunday May 1,2022.

Eddie was described by Hall of Fame CEO Young as a “metronome with a heart,” whose most outstanding attribute was “serving the song, his singer, and his fellow musicians,” more than himself.

As described, the man responsible for playing on numerous ’90s country hits, upon receiving his Hall of Fame Medallion, highlighted the importance of his wife Lane Brody to his career. He honored the Judds by noting that he was the drummer on the demo recordings that Naomi Judd passed onto producer Brent Maher, leading to the tandem being signed to RCA Records.

Eddie Goes To The Hall

This year’s Country Music Hall of Fame inductees are: in the Modern Era Artist category, The Judds; in the Veterans Era Artist category, the late Ray Charles; and in the Recording/Touring Musician category, both Eddie Bayers and the late Pete Drake, due to a tie in the voting process. Details regarding a formal induction ceremony for next Spring will be released as information is made available.

Eddie in the “Musician Spotlight”

On May 21, 2017, Eddie was featured in a program for the Country Music Hall Of Fame’s “Musician Spotlight” series, held at the CMOF’s Ford Theater. Surrounded by his bandmates from The Mike Snider Band (Fiddle: Brian Christianson, Mandolin: Sterling Abernathy, Bass: Todd Cook, Banjo: Mike Snider and Guitar: Jake Stargel) Eddie had a great time telling stories, demonstrating several unique drum techniques and just having fun. Eddie’s wife, Lane Brody, contributed a wonderful performance of her hit “The Yellow Rose Of Texas“, with help from old friend (and Eddie’s fellow Nashville Cat) Steve Gibson.  If you weren’t able to make it and you’d like to see what you missed, GO HERE.
